The Alliance to Save Energy, American Lighting Association, ENERGY STAR and several others from the LUMEN Coalition got together recently on Twitter to discuss the new energy-efficient LED screw-in LED commercial lighting wholesale. The discussion was about what the new bulbs look like, what they do and how much money can be saved when they are used in the home to replace standard incandescent bulbs.
The chat drew more than 80 participants and covered 13 questions on everything from why LED bulbs can look so different to where should consumers start when switching to energy-efficient lights. You can read the Twitter posts by searching Twitter for # LUMENchat.

The start of 2013 also means the beginning of the phaseout of the 75-watt incandescent light bulb. LED commercial lighting wholesale is similar to last year's phaseout of the 100-watt incandescent light bulb. But even though these two bulbs will now start to disappear, the number of bulb choices has actually increased.
For example, the 100-watt incandescent light bulb was replaced on store shelves with a more efficient 72-watt halogen incandescent bulb with just slightly less light output (lumens) than the original 100-watt.
This year, the 75-watt incandescent light bulb is being replaced by a 53-watt halogen incandescent - again with only slightly less light output than the original because the halogen technology is more efficient.
Both the 100 - and the 75-watt bulbs can also be replaced with LED bulbs or compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs that are now on the market.
